I love it because it’s the story of an underdog who triumphs. The song title itself refers to having an inner glow that illuminates the world. The first verse sets the tone for the entire song when he says “I get my energy from my inner G. I am in outer space, but I got inner peace…On a losing strike. I’m on a winning streak.” I could keep going but you get the gist.
Where’s the next place on your travel bucket list and why?
The next places on my travel bucket list is Fiji, Vietnam, Bali, and Tokyo. Iman and I haven’t had a chance to have a proper honeymoon since we got married so we recently got scuba certified and plan to spend all of May visiting the aforementioned countries and exploring both above the horizon and below the surface.
What are your hobbies, and how did you get into them?
I enjoy painting when I actually have time. Before I got into photography and videography I was actually a full time artist for a few years.
What’s your favorite quote from a TV show/movie/book?
“Nothing real can be threatened, Nothing unreal exists. Here lies the peace of God” - A Course In Miracles. It basically means that only what God has created is real i.e. Peace and Love. And everything else like fear and ego are illusory.
During your time as a wedding professional, what has been your most touching or panic inducing experience?
The very first wedding I ever shot, I was somehow in charge of both photography and videography—which, looking back, I probably had no business accepting in the first place.
Anyway, right before the bride was about to come down the aisle, the entire country club lost power. Not just our room…the whole place. No lights, no AC, nothing. They didn’t have a planner, and everyone from the venue was standing around looking crazy.
Within minutes it got hot—like uncomfortable, old-people-about-to-pass-out hot.
I had a mic on the bride and could hear her in the bridal suite absolutely spiraling. She said she wasn’t walking down the aisle until the lights came back on, and then she started wondering out loud if this was a sign from God that she shouldn’t get married.
So I figured someone had to do something.
I went and found a bunch of tea lights and started lining them down the aisle—which, in hindsight, was probably a significant fire hazard. The venue captain tried to stop me, but at that point no one else had a better idea, so I just looked at them crazy and continued to light away.
Then I asked all the guests to turn their phone flashlights on and hold them up in the air.
The whole room lit up.
I took a quick picture, ran it to the bride, and told her, “Look… it’s giving Starry Night vibes.”
Somehow that worked.
She came out, walked down the aisle, and later told me it ended up being one of the most beautiful moments of the entire wedding.
And that was my very first wedding.
After surviving that, I don’t think I’ve ever really panicked at a wedding again. It gave me the confidence that if I could make it through that situation, I could probably make it through anything.
